DCUO In-Depth: Fire DPS / Tank power set guide (and Starfire)!

Starfire - DC Comics, by FioreSofen

What?  A power set that I actually use?  Well, yes... I use the Fire powerset on my Blue Devil toon (I've actually been asked in world why I wasn't using fire on this toon... seems for now, fire is a pretty good DPS choice... but that'll change, as it always does).  Thus, I'm posting the next in Obsidian Chill's "DCUO In-Depth" power set reviews, will obviously be fire.  Once again, a great overview, and do enjoy!

Retro Super Art: Superman Lives!... and Forbes predicts DC comics will end publishing soon!

Welcome back!  My original plan was to introduce the YouTube below at a later date, but the honestly, the projected breaking story from Forbes magazine about how DC comics is seriously considering ending publishing comics forced my hand.  Two of my main sources below go into a plethora of detail...

... starting with Gary at Nerdrotic.com.  He is a previous comic shop owner who moved from comics to become a wildly popular YouTuber (e.g. the Nerdrotic channel).  He covers a lot of comics-related stuff, including the current maladies of those individuals producing comics over at DC and Marvel. With his experience owning a comic shop, he provides insights one would not normally about the industry.  However, he was the second YouTube feed who I noted mentioning this, with the first being...

... ComicsArtistPro Secrets, by Ethan Van Scriver.  For those who might not have know (as I was when I originally learned of his channel) was the mastermind behind the expanded Green Lantern universe (moving to the different colors of the spectrum, etc...).  He used to work for DC, but due to a difference in philosophies, he departed the organization (more on that in a later post).  Still, his video reviews how DC is moving from comics into a "lifestyle brand", which is bizarre... at least until you understand his logic.  Do give them a listen, and enjoy the DCUO, because it appears the days of purchasing comics at the local store are numbered!

DCUO In-Depth: Ice DPS & Tank power set guide (and Killer Frost)!

Ice is, in my opinion, the easiest introductory power in the DCUO.  It has plenty of shields, which helps when a toon tanks, has a pretty good mix of offensive and defensive powers, and is easy to play.  When you start DCUO, you can play any power, but if you're new, do give Ice a try.

DCUO In-Depth: Earth Tank and DPS Power Set (and Atlee Terra)!

Mr. Obsidian Chill is a long time DCUO YouTuber, and over the past year focused on producing guides with associated power sets in the DCUO.  Understanding how a power set can be best used is key to really enjoying DCUO combat (Player versus environment, aka PVE).  I'll be highlighting Obsidian Chill's extensive power set review, starting with the Earth power set, my personal favorite...

Tanking is often the "gateway" role for the DCUO players, and I enjoy most  tanking powers (with one exception - Rage - more on that later).  Still, if you're looking for a good introductory power, you can pretty much set up a variety of loadout (my differs quite a bit from the above guide, but I highly recommend his guide).  As such, if you're interested, please give it a good, and do enjoy!

As a follow on, there are a couple of Terras (three to be specific) in the DC universe.  Atlee Terra is the second of three (and the description is/at the 9:23 minute mark), and the convoluted story line.  Worth a watch, and it includes a vague description of her relationship with Power Girl (the narrator states they are friends, but it would appear there is more to that relationship).  Hope this helps with your Earth Tank, and see you in-world!

A move from JL Legends... back to the Blue Devil's Hideout!

And the change is afoot.

I had to debate on how to make the change from the JL Legends Blog to the new, personalize Blue Devil's Hideout blog (or at least what I'm calling it for now).  I'm keeping the JL Legends blog up, but decided to rework an old blog (yes, I have a lot of blogs) as the new personalize blog.  What are the changes?  For those "in the know", the Blue Devil's Hideout was an old url I used to have, which was essentially what the old blog was.  Now that I'm not writing under the JL Legends umbrella, I'll have a few new changes, such as...

1) A wider scope of superheros and comic culture - I'll post more on the overall superhero culture, which seems to be moving beyond comics (which, sadly, seem to be dying out... to an extent).

2) More DCUO content - I'll also post more on DCUO content... did that with the other blog, and will be a mainstay of this blog.  However, I'll also add new topics, such as "As seen in-world" (players with good recreations of toons), and, well, other topics as I think of them.

3) NSFW items - Yes, saucier pictures will be posted on the blog, in relation to the topic at hand, or maybe just at random.  We'll see how that goes.

4) Editorial independence - Now that the blog is not associated with a specific group (e.g. I don't feel as if I need to "be careful" about what is being posed), I'll add more the the blog that reflects my perceptions of the superhero genre.

So, we'll see how this moves forward.  I'll be in the process of updating the blog to the point it needs to be addressed.  Thank you for your patience, and please enjoy the lovely pictures of Ms. Crystal Graziano dressed as Power Girl!  An outstanding cosplayer modeling a uber-popular DC heroine!  Until the next post!
